03/14/2005: Return of a Diva
Jon Stewart of The Daily Show did an absolutely "HOWLING" funny show on the return of the Domestic Diva: Martha Stewart. Be sure to catch a rerun of this show...also featuring Paul Krugman (NY Times Columnist and Princeton Economist) as Stewart's guest of the day.
In dubious honor of Martha's homecoming and house-arrest. I'm adding a copy of poem my daughter, Lauren, wrote for an entry (printed last fall in The Daily Herald). Lauren is a really good poet and won "Poet Laureate" of her eighth grade class at Geneva Middle School last year. (And a proud mother was I...)
The Martha Stewart, Queen of all trends,
You've been found guilty despite all your friends.
When we heard of your trial...all our toes curled,
But it showed that you are just like the rest of this world.
Today we have pills to get rid of hangovers,
Go to gift shops and invest in four leaf clovers.
There's plenty of pills that will make you lose weight,
Forget working out, lipo-suction is great.
Our president lies, but we still are at war,
People are dying while he's yelling "FORE."
Noses that aren't ours and boobs that are fake,
While Martha showed us what acorns and tree twigs can make.
Janet can flash us on global TV,
While Martha made us soap in the shape of a bee.
Piercing in places that should not have holes,
She taught us instead to make buttery rolls.
So Martha don't feel so bad now that you're human too,
No one is perfect and neither are you.
In our world today, things aren't as they seem,
Sometimes don't you wish it all were a dream.
