Interesting tid-bits from our Census Bureau: I found these URL sites for the listing of
Frequency of occurring names at : for Last Names (1 through 88799 names);
and at for Female Names;
and at for Male Names.
Now, while I didn’t actually find our spelling of McLauchlan (it's one of the Scottish spellings, Not Irish) in the list of over 88,000 names -- at least not a during a scan through…which takes a while to look through 88,000 names -- I found some of the alternates. Plus, a few other funny names (lots of funny names if truth be told.)
And couldn’t see Cleavelin or Sides either - though "Brocks" is listed as a last name # 29,261 most frequent. This also complements the site for the Baby Name Wizard which will tell you the frequency of First names during a particular decade. (Thanks to Abby for that one.)
"Smith" is in the 1st place spot, but "Johnson" is 2nd with "Jones" at 4th. For "McLauchlan" - here’s a few variations and their frequency:

"Karen" comes as # 13 in the Female Names.
