05/15/2004: The weather sorta cooperated....
There was a light rain pretty much all evening, but we managed to get a full game in last night (and the rain held the attendance down a bit, so we managed to find some unoccupied seats in a more sheltered area of our section). For 8 innings it was a fairly good game. Jason Ryan put in a fairly solid 6.2 innings, giving up only three runs in that period, and improved his ERA slightly. The Redbirds managed to carry a one run lead into the top of the 9th, but, alas reliever Chad Paronto imploded in the 9th, giving up a single and two doubles allowing 4 runs to score (Paronto was assisted in his implosion by two Redbirds fielding errors, so there was plenty of blame to spread around), resulting in a victory by the Portland Beavers, 8-5.
Many thanks to Mike "Half-Bakered" Hollihan for thinking of me when he had an extra ticket to spare; it was not only a good evening of baseball but some very enjoyable conversation between innings and during pitching changes.
