of The All Music Guide. Should you ever find a musical question it can't answer, let me know; it must really be a doozy.
Where else could one learn, for example, that a "sackbut" is basically another name for a slide trombone?
Ok, ok, I know... besides the Oxford English Dictionary.

Since I do some music writing I use AMG all the time---- once in a BLUE MOON it won't have what I'm looking for. But if you've ever been in a band that recorded (indie or otherwise), type your name in. It may just be there.

I've never been in a band, unfortunately, because I've never played an instrument (I used to say that I was a phonograph virtuoso, but alas, the march of technology has ruined that joke), but I may have to start collecting obscure band names just to check it out.
