12/07/2004: Shameless plugola department.
Basically, I think that the Wizbang Blog Awards are a big joke (Little Green Footballs as Best Blog last year? Give me a break! The electorate there is either brain-dead or taking some serious drugs), but I have been told that longtime blogroll entry and fellow Rocky Top Brigade member Democratic Veteran has been nominated as a candidate for Wizbang's "Best Military Blog" award. So go do Jo Fish a favor, and vote, early and often (i.e., once a day).
And as long as we're mentioning it, Rocky Top Brigade demi-god South Knox Bubba has been nominated in the category of Best Liberal Blog, and I'll go ahead and put him in the "vote early and often" category, as well and come out and officially support his candidacy. I note, looking through the various categories, that there are a number of other RTB blogs nominated. With the exception of Donald Sensing's One Hand Clapping (generally thoughtful and well written, even when I don't agree with him, which is often enough) I can't advise voting for any of them, because either I don't read enough of them to know if they're deserving, or I don't read them precisely because they're not deserving of my time, much less any kind of award.
I'm not linking to the main Weblog Award page precisely because I think the whole thing is such a big joke, and if two bloggers that I know and respect (well, three counting Sensing, but I don't know him well enough to be excited about his nomination if his was the only blog in the competition that I was familiar with) weren't nominated I wouldn't bother to take any notice of it at all. So if you just want to ignore the damn thing, go right ahead and do so (I'll consider it a mark of superior taste, if not intelligence, myself), but if you don't at least give DemVet and SKB serious consideration for your vote.
