12/03/2004: Has he been retired that long?.....
We hear that perennial Cardinals fan favorite Willie McGee is in his first year of eligibility for election to the Baseball Hall of Fame this year. Not that he's really likely to get elected--offhand, I'm willing to wager he doesn't get the sufficient number of votes (5% of the ballots cast if I'm reading the rules correctly) to keep him on the ballot for next year, but at least the BBWAA Screening Committee passed him for inclusion on the ballot in his first year of eligibility, which is saying something.
I'll have to do a Hall of Fame post and pontificate a bit about who's on the ballot and who I think should be elected. I'll put that on my "to do" list for this holiday season...
