Dark Bilious Vapors

But how could I deny that I possess these hands and this body, and withal escape being classed with persons in a state of insanity, whose brains are so disordered and clouded by dark bilious vapors....

10/21/2004: I have never been so happy to be wrong in my life....

Congratulations to the St. Louis Cardinals:

2004 National League Champions!!!!!

I honestly thought I'd have more to say, but I'm too busy being ecstatic.

Probably write more tomorrow, once I've had a chance to let it sink in, and read the Cardinals blogs....

UPDATE: Nah, I do have one thing to say right now. I'm frankly surprised (very pleasantly surprised, but surprised nonetheless) to see them giving a trophy to Albert Pujols, that says "2004 National League Championship Series Most Valuable Player".

Surprised because it's seemed that this series has been "The Carlos Beltran Show", and I was expecting Beltran to get the series MVP award, no matter whether the Astros won or lost. I suppose the "give the MVP to the star of the winning team" rule kicked in there (not that Albert "The Great" doesn't deserve it, he does).

:o)

Awesome series. I've decided to become a full-blown Cards fan. I've always liked the Cards and the Redbirds have helped me like them more but until this series I would never have characterized myself as a fan. Now I realize that I've missed out on being hooked up with one of the greatest teams in baseball and they play only a few hours drive from my home. Cool.

Watching that game in a bar full of Houston fan, I was counting down from the 7th inning ("Eight more outs...seven more outs..."). When Izzy closed them out in the top of the 9th, I said "Check, please," paid my tab, walked out into the parking lot and jumped around like a little girl. What a series.

Yep. Didn't sleep a wink last night replaying the critical plays over and over in my mind (Memory: The Poor Man's TiVO).

Thanks Goose (funny, I thought for sure I'd posted another comment here thanking you already...)
