Dark Bilious Vapors

But how could I deny that I possess these hands and this body, and withal escape being classed with persons in a state of insanity, whose brains are so disordered and clouded by dark bilious vapors....

10/21/2004: I'm sure it's not partisan at all....

South Knox Bubba informs us of some interesting doings in Knoxvegas (the Sin City of Eastern Tennessee):

Wondering where your Kerry/Edwards sign went? The City of Knoxville may have taken it! It seems they now have crews out removing signs from public right of way "that affect either the safety, the beauty, or the maintenance of that (right of way)." That sure gives them a lot of latitude.

The article tells of one crew taking a Kerry/Edwards sign from private property. When the guy ran them down, they had eight Kerry/Edwards signs, one large John Duncan sign, and apparently no Bush/Cheney signs.

A MetroBlab poster says she had a similar experience. City workers took down her Kerry/Edwards sign but left Bush/Cheney signs.

(Maybe the City thinks those Kerry/Edwards signs are just downright ugly, but the Bush/Cheney signs enhance the beauty of the right of way?)

It's interesting to note that Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam is a huge Bush supporter. He and his family have contributed tons of cash to Bush and the RNC. His father, Big Jim, is the statewide finance chairman for the Bush/Cheney campaign and a Bush Ranger, as is Bill's brother Jim III.
Why does that not surprise me?
