Dark Bilious Vapors

But how could I deny that I possess these hands and this body, and withal escape being classed with persons in a state of insanity, whose brains are so disordered and clouded by dark bilious vapors....

09/20/2004: I'm green with envy....

Local TV-news-maven Peggy Phillip is off on vacation, and claims to be visiting Devil's Tower, The Badlands National Park, and the Black Hills National Forest. IIRC, Peggy's a native of South Dakota, and I have a suspicion she'll be visiting family and friends too.

But I'm jealous because I'm way overdue to be doing a Western states swing myself (probably because I'm waiting to fall in love yet again, and take my newly found ladylove with me; I should probably just give up, realize that I'm going to die a lonely, bitter old bachelor, and say "fuck it" and go by myself), though my likely itinerary would be Washita Battlefield (which has apparently only recently become a National Historic Site), The U.S. Cavalry Museum (been a while since I've been there last), Omaha, Nebraska if that's not too far a diversion (basically, my favorite Indian restaurant in the world is in Omaha, and it's been WAY too long since I've had their lamb vindaloo, not to mention a craftbrewed-on-the-premises India Pale Ale which is to die for), Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park, Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument, and if I can squeeze them in, a few other sites such as the Rosebud Battlefield State Park (that'd be a first time; I'm wondering how I missed it earlier), Fort Phil Kearney and related sites, including the Fetterman battle site and the Wagon Box battle site, and maybe the Black Hills again.

Yes, I am an Indian Wars buff. How'd you guess?

Anyway, I'm probably too much of a romantic for my own good, so even though I should just give up, I'll throw the offer out there anyway and see if there are any takers (fat chance!). Any single women, 18-55 out there (though realistically 35-55, given past experience I've had with younger women, is probably better) who think such a trip would be fun, and who would be interested in a long term (i.e., minimum 6 month, preferably multi-year) committed, monogamous (though not necessarily with an object of matrimony) relationship with a middle-aged (47 last July) geek with wide variety of interests? Well, my email address is over there on the sidebar to the left. You know what to do.
