07/15/2004: TV Trivia answers....
Only one taker on the question posed a few days ago: What was the source of my reference to actor/director Ron Howard as "Little Opie Cunningham" (which is, of course, a reference to Howard's playing both Opie Taylor on The Andy Griffith Show and Richie Cunningham on Happy Days)? The answer: it was first used by Eddie Murphy on Saturday Night Live on the occasion of Ron Howard being the host one week (the proffered answer was SNL, but the person answering suggested that it was Chris Rock who did it). As I recall the schtick, Howard was out on stage doing the host's opening monolog, when Murphy wandered out onto the stage, recognized him, and shouted, "It's Little Opie Cunningham!!!"
UPDATE: I wasn't paying attention when I wrote this post (and damn my failing memory, but I was meaning to), but I note now this is post #500 since I moved the blog over to Greymatter from Blogger. I suppose that there should be some significance of that fact to The Grand Scheme Of Things, but damned if I can find it right now. Anyway, if any of y'all want to use this as an excuse to party hearty, by all means do.
