Dark Bilious Vapors

Air America's Morning Sedition is reporting that supposedly John Kerry has announced that he wants John Edwards as his running mate. I'll be interested in seeing Brian Arner's take on this, because prior to the Kerry onslaught in the primaries Brian was supporting Edwards himself. I don't know what my take is on it yet, but I have to admit that "Vice President Edwards" sounds better to me than "Vice President Gephardt", which was the other rampant speculation I'd been hearing. Not to dis Gep--as I've said before, he was my Congresscritter back in St. Louis for what seemed like centuries--but he never galvanized me, and I'm favorably disposed to fellow St. Louis natives on general principle. Then again, I suppose that it strikes me that the stability of the very fabric of the space time continuum is dependent on Gephardt returning to a corner office at Thompson and Coburn and sitting out his retirement until a future Democratic administration (hopefully President Kerry) nominates him to a Federal judgeship in St. Louis.

Even as I type this, Air America's top o'the hour news broadcast is saying that it's not official yet, but that both NBC and the AP are saying that Edwards has gotten the nod. We'll see what happens.
