06/26/2004: Thought for the Day:
Reading the accounts of self-described abductees, you don't have to wonder why people might indulge in elaborate abduction fantasies, at the risk of being labelled crazy. If there are social costs to insisting you've been abducted by aliens, they are greatly outweighed by its psychic rewards. The abduction story confirms that you're among the chosen few, and so does the prospect of marginalization. Prophets are not supposed to be honored in their time.
