06/12/2004: Light posting tonight, as I may be up for some heavy geekery....
In my upgrade to Mandrake 10.0 I installed the version of apcupsd that came bundled with it; unfortunately while it installs and starts seemingly correctly, there are still problems; the daemon doesn't generate communication failure or power loss events when I artificially create them (i.e., by unplugging the appropriate plug from the appropriate socket).
I'll probably live to regret this, but I've got a serious bug up my butt to download the source tarball for apcupsd and actually compile the thing from source. Fortunately, I've rolled a couple custom kernels, so surely this task can't be that complex, right?
Like I said, I may live to regret this.
